Case Study: St.Modwen Doncaster Logistics

In May 2016 we were contacted by leading property developers St.Modwen to carry out regular monthly drone photographs at one of their commercial units development in Doncaster. The Parkside Business Park extends across 27 acres and is an established business location off Wheatley Hall Road, one of the main arterial routes in to Doncaster.

For every project we carry out a thorough risk assessment of the location in question, gathering all the information required for drone flight. We check for flight restrictions, checking for local airports, flight clubs, sensitive areas such as prisons, stadiums, schools etc... We also check for obstructions such as masts, high buildings, mobile masts. We check the location both on a wide scale but also very localised. We decided that for this project we could use both our DJI Phantom and DJI Inspire machines as they are very reliable and quick to prepare for flight. We always check the weather forecast for all of out appointments to insure we can carry out the flight, and preferably find good weather and good light.

This particular project had already commenced and only required four months of drone photography, but were able to cover the progress and gather some good photographs. Now completed, Unit A (36,846sq ft) and Unit B (41,095 sq ft) each offers warehouse space, complete with an upstairs office, large secure yard and good parking provision. DB Schenker, a global business which operates a freight and infrastructure service, has leased 41,095 sq ft of warehouse space and we were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves covering further development to the Parkside Business Park which will comprise a further 60,000 sq ft split over two buildings which have been designed to be further split.

On our most recent visit we were able to take a fantastic shot of the unit leased to DB Schenker and see the unit not only completed but also fully fitted out.
